Stoke City 1 Aston Villa 3: Gregg Evans' player ratings and match stats - Birmingham Mail

Scored an absolute screamer to earn Villa the three points. Also set up the first goal and provided a threat all game going forward. Maintained his ever-present status.

Surprisingly, he didn't have a lot to do apart from picking the ball out of the net. Commanding at crosses and deserved a quiet day for his heroics so far this season.

Led by example like a true leader. Got stuck in, won plenty of headers and was resilient on the odd occasion that he was beaten.

Maturing with every game but was lucky not to concede a penalty. Limited Stoke's forwards to very few chances and took a fierce Kenwyne Jones shot in the face.

Not as effective as in recent weeks. Was unlucky not to score when Asmir Begovic tipped his first-half effort on to the post.

Has found some form with his fifth goal in ten games. Could have had more but spoiled a decent performance with a dive in the box that earned him a booking.

Starting to show glimpses of class. Had two chances to score but was unlucky on both occasions. Great effort for only his second Premier League start.

Already a claret and blue hero. Bagged another goal and linked up play superbly. Another mammoth effort considering the amount of games he's played for club and country this term.

SUBSTITUTES: Sylla (for Agbonlahor, 74) Got stuck in and gave Villa more bite in midfield 7; N'Zogbia (for Bowery, 82); Bent (for Weimann, 85).
