The Indiana Pacers were only an excessive amount of offensively for the Atlanta Hawks to hold with, getting Game 2, 113-98, Wednesday night in Indiana. Surprisingly enough, the Hawks could not stop a rather pedestrian Pacers crime standing 23rd in the NBA with only 93.4 points per game. Early on in the initial half, the Pacers were putting on a dunk show. First, when Roy Hibbert tried Ivan Johnson for thinking he could get a called on him. And 2nd, when Gerald Green advised many of us, including Josh Smith, why he is certainly one of the most respected dunk artists in the overall game. Despite these significant throwdowns, the Hawks, could keep consitently the game competitive and close through the entire first half with a significant amount of internal crime. At the end of the very first half, the Pacers, behind Paul George's 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, grabbed a lead and never looked right back. The most alarming fact of the evening was the 48 points obtained in the paint by Indiana, as compared to only 40 points in the paint for the Hawks. Despite having Josh Smith and Al Horford, the Pacers were able to dominate the color, and which was a genuine difference-maker. Paul George, revealed once again that he's willing to take his sport to that elusive next stage, with 27 items, nine boards and three helps on % firing from the field. With four takes and a stop, George's perimeter defense was successful in shutting down the Hawks' perimeter offense through the entire night, and the newly crowned 2013 Most Improved Player played 39 minutes without committing just one turnover. That is the sort of successful play that's going to help him become a true superstar in the NBA over the next few years. With nine minutes left in the last quarter, the Hawks cut the Pacers result in 10 points, however George Hill took over, scoring seven of the next 13 points and finishing the night time with 22 points on 7-of-12 firing. The Pacers never looked straight back after the late push by the Hawks, crushing any morale the Hawks had left by leading by 20-plus factors with only three minutes left in the game. The Hawks' increased focus on actual play didn't frighten the Pacers. As an alternative, it resulted in the Pacers finding more free throwsa'29 efforts, in comparison to only 20 for the Hawks. That is an indicator of a wise and well-coached team. Up next is just a visit to Atlanta for Game 3 since the Pacers look to all but lock up the series Saturday night.
