The Lingerie Tales Baseball Category Wants Bob Tebow To Become Its aQuarterbacks Coacha

Again, it should be noted that its difficult to draw the line involving the LFL adoing somethinga and the LFL adoing anything so more folks can pay attention to the LFL.a But as publicity stunts get, this one is pretty amusing. Tim Tebow is in limbo since the Jets have cut him and many people don't think he's a NFL great quarterback. Because at the conclusion of your day, to be an NFL quarterback, you've to be good at things like throwing the football, reading the safety, resisting pressure and making decisions. Tim Tebow Turns To Proverbs After Release From Jets

Tim Tebow, always one to give credit to Jesus Christ, of course went right to his faith upon his release from the Jets early Monday.

The Jets announced they waived Tebow Monday morning after he showed up to the complex for phase two of the Jets' offseason program.

Following the release, all had been quiet from Tebow, that is until he went to Twitter to tweet out some verses from Proverbs to state that he will continue to fight.

Stevan Jovetic and Giuseppe Rossi: The Next Great Serie A Strike Partnership?

Stevan Jovetic and Giuseppe Rossi are a lot alike. Both were snapped up while still very young—Jovetic by Fiorentina and Rossi by Manchester United—and both know what it's like to have a long lay-off through injury.

But while the Montenegrin has been allowed to develop slowly into one of Europe's most complete forwards, first in the ranks of Partizan Belgrade and then in Florence, Rossi's life has been a nomadic existence.

The New Jersey-born Italian made a high-profile move from Parma to Manchester United as a teenager and was tipped for the top. Since then, he's been anywhere but. A fruitless loan-spell in Newcastle disappointed before a more promising turn back in Parma.

Rossi's move to Villareal looked like it was a good fit for the forward. Still young, but plagued by injuries, he found a team in which he could develop his considerable talents without the pressures that come with struggling somewhere like Old Trafford. Free from problems in 2010-11, he scored 32 goals in 56 games and suggested that great things were to come both in La Liga and with the Italian national team.

The same injury kept Jovetic out for a season in 2010, but when fit he's been a regular starter—and scorer—for Fiorentina since his move in 2008, a club that though not without its troubles, has performed well on a limited budget: the perfect proving ground for a young striker.

Now, the Viola have them both. So are they Serie A's next great strike partnership? Sadly, the answer's probably in the negative.

Injuries have dogged Rossi since he was a teen and there are reasonable doubts about his ability to consistently contribute to Fiorentina's cause. The €35 million release clause in his contract is a measure of his potential, but the €10 million bargain that Montella got in signing him is just as telling. He's a gamble and he came in as damaged goods. There's no other reason for a 26-year-old Italy international to go for less than double that.

Of course, injuries hampered Robin Van Persie for much of his life at Arsenal, but we all know how Manchester United's gamble on the Dutchman has been working out. If Rossi's fit, he's a game changer. He's also a player with a lot to prove. He could be an incredible signing for the Gigliati.

Anyway, injuries aren't what will stop this pair becoming the peninsula's most dynamic duo. It's Europe's biggest clubs who threaten to tear them apart before they've even had a chance to show us what might have been.

Arsenal are reportedly desperate to win Jovetic's affections and are rumoured to have already made a £25 million bid. Juventus have been long-time admirers, and Manchester City are lurking around, too. And that's not even counting Napoli, who could have a lot of money to spend if Edinson Cavani moves on to pastures new.

Vincenzo Montella will need a miracle to persuade Jovetic to stay. Fiorentina are a side in transition, with a talented young coach and a squad full of promise, not least in Adem Ljajic, who Jovetic has known since their Partizan days. But crucially, it's unlikely they'll be in the Champions League. And that's where Jovetic belongs.

Given a couple of seasons, Montella might put together a team that can challenge on a continental level. Or he might not. His stock is on the rise and an offer might come that's too good to refuse. The league's getting stronger, and it won't be so easy for the Florentines to improve on their budget.

So what's Jovetic to do? The romantics among us will urge him to stay and complete an exquisite forward line with Rossi. But a leading role for a top Premier League side that competes in the Champions League is an offer no young striker could refuse. His new partner will know that better than anyone.

San Antonio Spurs compared to. Manhattan Project Lakers: Sport 4 Critique, Agenda & Predictions

This may have now been a fantastic playoff series, if the La Lakers had entered the postseason absolutely healthy. Alas, the injury bug eventually took a out of Kobe Bryant's interesting legs, depriving supporters of an enjoyable clash between the Black Mamba and Tim Duncan, two early nominees for the All-Century group. With the graying Lakers choice hobbled, the San Antonio Spurs have ruthlessly taken over the line. They won each of the first three activities by double digits and handed L.A. a shellacking in Game 3, the worst house playoff damage in the franchise's storied history. Phil Goudelock will start at shooting guard for L.A., and an MVP pedigree is brought by him. However, that was MVP of the D-League, and these would be the NBA playoffs.AThough the Lakers should come out fighting, they don't obviously have a puncher's chance in this one. Time:ASunday, April 28, 7 p.m. ET Where:AStaples Center, L. A., CA Line Record: 3-0 Spurs TV:ATNT Sport 4 Crucial Storyline: Value Activities is focused on personality and determination, but not many rational people would give the Lakers any chance of winning four straight games against San Antonio and pulling off a mad return. That sort of thing just doesn't occur in the NBA, no matter simply how much will and character a team has. L.A. isn't waving the white flag quite however, and their concentration is set on winning just one game. They will attempt to repeat it in Game 5, if that works on Sunday. But the Spurs are not prone to narcolepsy, and the Lakers won't catch them napping. Though the franchise circumstances and staff makeup are radically different, the Lakers find themselves in roughly exactly the same position as the Ny Knicks in last year's playoffs: down 0-3 to a vastly superior adversary. When this occurs, the modest target becomes only avoiding a sweep.AThe Knicks stole a game title contrary to the Miami Heat this past year, and confetti rained down on Madison Square Garden. While the Lakers are not as eager for a postseason victory as the deprived Knicks were this past year, ending the time by getting swept would leave a particularly acrid taste in the lips of players and fans. Line Star So Far Manu Ginobili's surprising creation served essential the Spurs' first two wins, but this respect demonstrably belongs to at least one of two people: Tim Duncan or Tony Parker. Without any disrespect to the 37-year-old Duncan, who has continued to perform at a really advanced, Parker's creation has been more important. The margin of victory in Game 3 was greater than that in the first two games combined, and his team was carryed by the Frenchman through both home games. He followed his 18 points, nine dimes and three steals in Game 1 withA28 points, seven assists and four panels in Game 2,Aposting team-highs in points and assists in both activities. By the full time the line headed to California, the Lakers were all but French toast thanks in large part to Parker.AThough the Frenchman has had the advantage of preserving a frontcourt, his unpleasant production has stayed MVP-caliber. The rebounding battle is won by them (or, actually, only provided that the team bus causes it to be to the arena). Rebounding was among the several benefits the Lakers had over the Spurs entering the series. Behind Howard's presence on the glass, the Lakers finished fourth in team rebounding while San Antonio rated 20th. Yet, despite fielding two seven-footers, L.A. has been out-rebounded in these playoffs (43.0 to 39.7 per game). With DeJuan Blair working to slot in for the wounded Tiago Splitter, the Spurs will soon be small at the center. Though Blair plays larger than his 6'7" size indicates, it'll be a hard game against Pau and Dwight, plus Earl Clark who figures to begin for MWP. Matt Bonner, aka the Red Mamba, may possibly also start at the 4 with Duncan dropping to the 5, but this could not assist the matchup issues down low. None the less, Timmy may find a method to neutralize all his team's drawbacks. He's exactly that good. Lakers Can Gain If... They have an extensive rebounding benefit, perform incredible protection and get surprised with rating from their no-name backcourt. Howard and Gasol could combine for 60 points and 50 rebounds, and the Lakers could have the ability to lose anyway. They are without the top four guards on their roster, plus their beginning swingman. AsABleacher Report columnistAKevinADing put it, L.A.'s choice on court for tipoff will soon be Pau Gasol and a quartet of folks who mightn't be wearing the pink and gold next year. Essentially the thing that the Lakers have going for them could be the will to avoid a brush in the home and salvage a degree of respect using this entirely damaged season.ASomehow, the Nevada favorite to represent the West is anxiously hoping for a upset to scratch out only a single playoff victory. Prediction Seeing the Lakers in this collection, I am reminded of a line from the Gospel of Matthew: The spirit is willing, however the flesh is weak. Thinking about the Lakers' numerous entries on the damage record, it's maybe not surprising they are looking down the barrel of a mop. Even Howard and Gasol are getting wounded, nursing neck and leg injuries which have affected them throughout every season. Missing the playoffs may have been a better method to end the growing season for the Lake Show, because it might have at the very least spared them the indignity of a postseason belly flop. Expect the Lakers in the future out quickly in this sport as they are backed right into a place. They will play with a scrappy hunger, but that won't preserve them contrary to the stout Spurs. As the halftime score could possibly be close, Gregg Popovich's staff will not mess around with a Game 5 and use their brooms on Sunday night. Prediction:ASpurs 105, Lakers 86

Jol: Fulham were also calm against Everton - Yahoo! Singapore Media

Fulham manager Martin Jol lambasted his part because of their asummer nighta approach after a 1-0 Premier League beat to Everton on Saturday. 5 Invisible Rewards the Denver Nuggets Have in the Playoffs

The Denver Nuggets will be trying to build on this year's regular-season success, because the staff will be going into the NBA playoffs because of its 10th straight year. With accurate documentation of 50-24, the Nuggets would be the present next seed in the Western Conference and have locked up a postseason berth with ten games still remaining on the schedule. The Nuggets really are a legitimate championship team and have shown throughout the year they can dominate opponents in multiple facets of the game. While their rebounding, points in the color and move crime will all play a massive role come playoff time, the Nuggets' hidden strengths may set them over the top. Let's take a look at the hidden advantages the Nuggets can have in this year's playoffs. Possess Ample Scorers The Nuggets' balanced attack on offense is a large reason behind the team's success.Doug Pensinger/Getty Images It is a successful fact that the Nuggets are one of the most explosive clubs on offense, but what could be stunning is merely how explosive they are. Out of the 15 people outlined on the Nuggets' list, 13* of these have obtained in double digits at least once this entire time. To increase this stat, 10** of these 13 people have submitted totals of 19 or even more factors in a minumum of one game. A staff as the basketball shouldn't be used with a grain of salt while one game is definitely a sample size, this mentality and capability to report. The their management and Nuggets have assembled an offensive juggernaut that relies on scoring from a group of people in the place of just a couple of. In just about any given game, Denver has the choice of putting various players on the ground to both disrupt the opposition's game plan or combat bad offensive performances. With their arsenal of able scorers, Denver will have the advantage of foiling their opposition's defensive tactics and will be described as a tough out for almost any group in this year's playoffs. *Julyan Stone and Quincy Miller haven't won in double digits **Timofey Mozgov, Anthony Randolph and Jordan Hamilton haven't obtained 19-plus factors. Myriad of Big Men The Nuggets could be the only group with three seven-foot facilities in this year's playoffs.Doug Pensinger/Getty Pictures The Nuggets won't function as the only team in this year's playoffs with three stores, however they will be the only squad with three seven footers. Kosta Koufos (7'0"), JaVale McGee (7'0") and Timofey Mozgov (7'1") supply the Nuggets with a significant level edge unmatched by many clubs in the group. Mozgov may serve as reasonable replacement or copy if either of the 2 is sidelined by injury or foul trouble, while Koufos and McGee have held down both beginning and reserve roles in 2013. In activities where Mozgov has played 20 or maybe more minutes before two seasons, the 7'1" heart has put up respectable averages of 8.9 points, 6.3 boards and 1.6 blocks. Mozgov is more than capable at the middle position and is one of those players who will impact activities by just taking up room. Having him stashed as a possible alternative is just a large benefit for the Nuggets, even though it is unlikely that Mozgov will see meaningful minutes this postseason. Challenge Tried Colorado went 17-7 against the West's playoff teams.Doug Pensinger/Getty Pictures If you have one thing more remarkable than the Nuggets' overall record this season, it is their record against the 15 other playoff clubs in the group. In 38 games against postseason-bound teams in 2013, the Nuggets have gone an excellent 26-12. Although Denver was struggling to take a game title from the Miami Heat in 2013, the Nuggets could come away with at least one victory against the other 14 playoff-bound squads. They still have the opportunity of winning or tying the rest of their series matchups against playoff groups when they perform the San Antonio Spurs* a few weeks, while the Nuggets did lose their season series against the Heat this season. They'll give you the Nuggets having an edge, though these wins against teams will not actually carry over into the postseason. As a staff just a typical age of 24.9 years old, the Nuggets will use this success over playoff teams this season as guarantee in the year's postseason. The season series is currently led by *san Antonio (2-1) Altitude/Conditioning The "Mile High" City will continue being a disaster for opposing road teams.Jared Wickerham/Getty Pictures They get one in the form of elevation, on an already stellar home judge as though an extra advantage was needed by the Nuggets. Called the "Mile High" City, Denver sits (obviously) a above sea level, making it a problem for any road group looking for a victory.AThrough 36 games this season at the Pepsi Center, the Nuggets have been almost invincible, because they have said 33 of the sum total games. While elevation has been recognized to cause the athletes to tire out faster, it's only produced good stuff for the Nuggets. As because they have been in a position to build up their fitness degrees in the thin air of Denver an up-tempo staff, the NuggetsAhave greatly benefited. Even though the Nuggets have failed to fully exploit this advantage on the road, going just 17-21, this advantage of teaching and playing in the low oxygen quantities of Denver cannot go unnoticed. With the weather being hard to regulate to for opponents and ideal for building up strength, this hidden advantage of elevation is likely to be massive in the postseason. No Explained Celebrity The Nuggets' insufficient a superstar will continue to do more good than harm this postseason.Harry How/Getty Images It is the Denver Nuggets, If there is one team that's demonstrated time and time again that a celebrity is not needed to be successful. Through the year, the Nuggets have exhibited a "team first" type of mentality on offense, because they currently rank next in the league in helps per game with 24.2. As a direct results of their willingness to share the steel, nine people on the Nuggets' list have put up averages of eight or maybe more points per game. While a discussion could be manufactured that having a superstar is vital to close out small games, still another could argue that having multiple options to visit is more of a perfect condition. The fact that the Nuggets don't have that one described superstar to visit by the end of the games makes this squad that far more unstable. With increased when compared to a handful of capable scorers on their list, the Nuggets are not a group which can be ended by using one particular strategy. Assuming that Ty Lawson is able to recover in time for the postseason, expect the opposition to have their hands full attempting to reduce the healthy assault of the Nuggets. Oregon Football: Stat Projections for Thomas Tyner's Freshman Season

Well, not if you read up on the accolades the kid will bring with him to the Ducks. Or if you consider the impressive physical tools he'll be adding right away to the Oregon backfield. Add in the fact that he's a local kid who's been following the Ducks for years now, and well, you have a recipe for a future superstar.

At 6'0" 220 pounds (he's added weight according to an update from oregon.247sports), he has the frame to physically manhandle defenders whether it's using the stiff-arm or bulldozing his way forward. Arm tackles aren't going to work with Tyner.

In addition to his larger frame, he brings world class speed, which on paper, is faster than LaMichael James or Kenjon Barner. Think De'Anthony Thomas if he were several inches taller and about 30-35 pounds heavier. He may not have those instantaneous cuts in his repertoire that we've become accustomed to seeing from DAT, but his speed alone has fans giddy with excitement.

So with all that out of the way, the only important question is what kind of impact will Tyner have in his freshman season?

After all, hype can only take you so far. There are guys like Jadeveon Clowney who arrive with massive hype and back that up from the moment they step on campus. Then there are others, like Bryce Brown (who, to be fair, has found a place in the NFL), who never seem to fit in on a college campus.

Let's begin by taking an analytical approach to predicting what kind of statistics Thomas Tyner might have in year one.

Between Kenjon Barner, Marcus Mariota, De'Anthony Thomas and Byron Marshall, the Ducks totaled 563 carries. Barner had 278 of those carries, and he's the only one of that foursome not on the team any longer.

So where will those carries go? Well, De'Anthony will clearly get a decent share of them, let's say 165 for now. That puts him at exactly 12-15 per game (in 12 games), and is nearly double what he had last season.

Byron Marshall will also be seeing a lot more carries, and I think a safe prediction for him is right around 200. That would be almost 17 carries per game, more than twice his amount from 2012.

Then there's Marcus Mariota, and I don't know that he'll be running a lot more in 2013. The reason of course, is that he'll have a deep group of receivers to throw to, and while the offense may not look dramatically different, I'd be surprised if the passing attack wasn't used more often.

That leaves roughly 90 rushes from Barner that are still unaccounted for, and that's where Tyner comes in. What he does with those carries will largely depend on when he's getting them. If they occur in the first half with the game still close, I think he could put up some decent totals. But, if they occur in garbage time when the defense knows what the Ducks are going to do, he may not find as much room.

I added in the fumble because there's sure to be a "welcome to college football" moment where Tyner lets one slip away.

So much of this could change by the time Nicholls State arrives in Eugene, but I'm predicting a solid, not spectacular start to Tyner's career. Should he grasp the offense quickly, then he'll definitely have a shot at 1,000 yards.

But for right now, I'm playing it rather safe and going with the totals you see above. Of course, I'll be happy to be wrong if he shatters those numbers. With the kind of talent Thomas Tyner has, there isn't much he can't do in his time at Oregon.

Birmingham City flop, not Van Persie's target, gave name to Manchester United... - Daily News & Analysis

In a dig at Manchester United, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated that the 2013 Premier League champions won the concept due to opponents Manchester City`s flop show, rather than Robin van Persie`s much-acclaimed goal. Many feel Van Persie`s decision to become listed on United as opposed to City from Arsenal last summer was the main element to the Old Trafford club winning their 20th top-flight champion, The Sun accounts. But, the Gunner manager dismissed the speculation, saying that even though Van Persie had made an effect with his performance, the main reason behind United's earning the title is that City dropped off at the last minute from the running. Saying the champions were not as much as the job, Wenger said that this year's title race was one-way traffic with United at the top, adding that the race was not as small and close as last year when City was leading the list. Wenger also claimed that United could also have grabbed the name last season if City`s final-day opponents Qeens Park Rangers (QPR) hadn't discovered that they were safe from relegation before conceding the dramatic Sergio Aguero purpose. The Gunners may form a guard of honour for former hero Van Persie and his United team-mates, the report added.

Suspended Pipe: J.R. Smith Got Ejected Last Night For Elbowing Jason Terry’s Face, Could Miss Game 4 Sunday

If this time next week we're talking about the Knicks blowing a 3-0 series lead to the Celtics, it'll be because of this absolutely unnecessary elbow. J.R. Smith, a game removed from the apex of his career arc whereby he received the KIA Sixth Man Of The Year Award, reminded us why he's only making $2.5M this year. Ugh, Earl, c'mon.

"It wasn't anything intentional. If they go back and watch the video, I think they'll see that," J.R. told The NY Daily News. "I was trying to draw the foul. He reached in one time and I thought he was going to reach in again the second time and I was going to try and get a shot off."

Refs slapped J.R. with a Flagrant 2, which comes with an automatic ejection, and in the playoffs, a suspension for the next game. "Hopefully, I do play," he added, because he's the 2nd most important player on the Knicks. How important? The Knicks hold a +5.3 score differential when he's on the court and +1.9 when he's not.

After the New York media had spent the previous week singing his praises, hailing him a changed man, he goes and does this. It's like that scene in The Wrestler when he patches things up with his daughter only to miss dinner with her the next day because he did too much coke the night before. In essence. Sort of.

We should know if he's suspended by tomorrow, and will keep you updated. If J.R. can't play, Chris Copeland will most likely take his place.

In fact, it was not until he crushed 20 home runs in the month of July alone, leading to the eventual passage through of Ryan Howard's Reading HR record, that Ruf appeared on the Phillies' radar. He received the group and a call-up took notice. He then played cold temperatures league ball in Venezuela and saved ten doubles and 10 home runs in 120 at-bats. Now in the major league spring camp, the team found themselves so enamored with Ruf's raw potential that they attempted to change him right into a left fielder so that he might make the team. That didn't look at so well (.85 FPCT, 1.38 range issue) and now it appears nearly certain Ruf will being the season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Converting Ruf to a fielder had a 50/50 shot of working therefore the fact that he's not yet been able to figure out the career is not disappointing. What's discouraging however is that in the approximate same test of at-bats in his major league debut time and the 2013 spring, that Ruf has failed to show the energy and pop he was expected to make. Ruf has fought with both the glove and bat this spring. He has gotten the probabilities to play everyday, but his bat hasn't remained warm. He has had a couple of notable games including on March 7 against Minnesota wherever he went 2-for-4, hit two doubles and saved three RBI, but over all, Ruf's spring has been disappointing and definitely not the main one he had hoped for being that he is competing for a major league job.

LA Lakers: Is Kobe Bryant Having His Best Season of All Time?

Kobe Bryant's exceptional play this season has many wondering whether he is playing the best basketball of his career. Although an argument could be made that he is, taking such a stance would be inaccurate.

The Los Angeles Lakers' leading scorer has had nights where he's looked like the best player in the game, and that's a testament to his singular skill. Indeed, the 17-year veteran is winning the battle against Father Time.

In late February, ESPN.com's TrueHoop blog ran a piece putting in perspective just how fantastic the former scoring champion has been:

Is Kobe playing his best basketball of the season right now? Perhaps it goes even beyond that. It seems that he could be playing the most efficient basketball of his career […]

For most of the season, Bryant's efficiency hovered around career high levels. Entering the March 13th contest against the Atlanta Hawks, he was the proud owner of a 57.7 percent true shooting percentage (a combination of field-goal, three-point and free-throw percentages all wrapped into one).

The Lakers' all-time leading scorer has not only ramped up his efficiency this season, but he has also added a few responsibilities to his ever-expanding role.

Mike D'Antoni has turned the former league MVP into the team's de facto point guard. Consequently the onus falls on his shoulders to score, initiate the offense, make the proper reads and also anticipate defensive rotations in order to take advantage of them.

Defensively, Metta World Peace is now responsible for checking opposing power forwards. As a result, Bryant must guard the other team's best perimeter player regardless of position. It's not uncommon to see the four-time All-Star game MVP pressuring opposing point guards in the backcourt.

However, it's difficult to unequivocally state that he is playing his best ball ever. The reason is simple: He is not.

If we simply rely on his statistical production, the 2012-13 campaign would rank as his ninth-best. The two-time NBA Finals MVP is posting a player efficiency ranking (PER) of 23.5.

It's worth noting that Bryant's defense has been exceptional since the All-Star break. The perennial All-Star has been far more engaged both on and off the ball, which has helped the Lakers thrive during that same time span.

Mind you, an improved defensive effort in the last month or so is synonymous with a lack of it prior to the midseason classic.

The superstar guard's contributions on this front were laughable early in the season. Bryant was often caught ignoring his main assignment in favor of ball watching. He even had instances where he simply observed his teammates get beat off the bounce and did nothing.

NBA.com's advanced stats tool tells us that the Purple and Gold's defense has been in the NBA's bottom third with their leading scorer on the floor. Remove him from the equation and the team is among the Association's elite with the eighth-best ranking.

These last few details make it hard to endorse this current season as the future Hall of Famer's best. Make no mistake though, it's somewhere in his top 10.

Many believe that Bryant's best season is the 2005-06 campaign that saw him average an almost absurd 35.4 points per game.

He recorded 27 games in which he produced 40 points or more and tormented the opposition with his scoring outbursts. His best piece of work that season was a jaw-dropping 81-point performance against the Toronto Raptors.

Even today, many people aren't sure how the Raptors allowed one perimeter player to produce such an ungodly amount of baskets.

The 2005-06 campaign put Bryant in an entirely different stratosphere in comparison with his peers, as well as other legends that came before him.

Very few had ever scored as much as the Laker guard that season and it was a sight to behold. But in my books, that yearlong assault on the NBA ranks as his second-best season of all-time.

Armed with confidence and an improved jump shot, the former Olympian became a much more assertive player. He drove by defenders with incredible ease, finished with authority at the rim and essentially scored at will.

At the tender age of 22, Bryant had the best scoring season of his career (at that stage of his NBA life), averaging 28.2 points per game on 46.4 percent field-goal shooting.

The increase in shot attempts did not please Shaquille O'Neal because it came at the expense of his own opportunities. The duo eventually found a healthy compromise late in the season and captured their second consecutive title.

At that point in his career, he was not the finished product he is today that can annihilate a defense from just about any spot on the floor. Indeed, his game has seen multiple transformations throughout the years.

This very same season also brought in a new facet of his game that elevated him to levels not seen at any other point in his career: ball-hawking defense.

After celebrating his first championship in June 2000, the former gold medalist rejoined his teammates in the fall as the most destructive perimeter defender since Gary Payton.

The Philadelphia native used his jaw-dropping athleticism to put the clamps on the best wing players on opposing teams. Bryant hounded whichever players were placed before him and made life miserable for them. There were occasions when the Laker guard was assigned to defend point guards, and they simply could not run their offense.

These days, the Lakers' all-time leading scorer does this in very small spurts. But 13 seasons ago, he executed this consistently in every game.

In other words, Bryant was defending like former San Antonio Spurs great Bruce Bowen, while pouring in 28 points a night.

That very same effort in the postseason helped the Lakers destroy the opposition. The Purple and Gold won 15 of 16 playoff games on their way to another parade in downtown Los Angeles.

Bryant's play this year has been amazing by every possible measure. It just comes up short in comparison to his most destructive NBA season as a two-way player.

First on Wednesday he tweeted an Instagram photo of a planned party for Thursday night to celebrate being drafted in the first round. Then he called the party off and instead went to dinner with about 50 of his friends.

Now Mathieu tweets about not being selected in the first-round of the draft, which was not unexpected. Obviously disappointed, he wrote, "The hardest part is knowing your better! A blessing delayed is not a blessing denied!!

WWE News: Surgery Update for The Rock

Initially "The Great One" revealed that he would not be getting surgery and would be following through with his upcoming movie production schedule.

The good news is that his surgery was a success. In fact he took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to reveal a post-surgery picture.

Overall, I got to say that The Rock looks to be in great shape and ready for to start filming. However, he will obviously need to take some time to heal from this surgery before he can start shooting any scenes—especially physical ones.

Now that the surgery is behind him, one has to wonder where he stands with the WWE and if he will be returning to the ring once his Hollywood schedule clears up. The fact is The Rock has truly given fans more than most expected over the past three years.

That being said, I think it's safe to say that if he decided to walk away, no one would fault him. Let's face it; he is in the prime of his film-making career and it would be insane for him to continue to try and balance the two.

Especially considering that potential injuries that could conflict with movie productions or WWE pay-per-view obligations.

All in all, if the WWE wants to retain The Rock, they should sign him to a "Legends" deal and have him do appearances at their "Big Four" pay-per-view events. This would be beneficial for both sides and give him a break from having an in-ring presence.

However, as we all know the world of wrestling is an odd one. So who knows what the future has in store for The Rock and the WWE?

Everton 1 Fulham 0 match report: Steven Pienaar target edges Everton nearer to... - The Independent

With those garish red shoes showing off the sun's rays, Dimitar Berbatov clutched at his leg and exited the overall game. No true point in seeing this one out. And with that, on the 30th second, Fulham's chances of finding such a thing at their most horrible of away grounds faded. The subplots that comprise success and failure in soccer a' the concept spike, the pursuit of a place inside the top four, the tussle to avoid relegation; well none of them were to be found at Goodison Park. Everton experienced a great year without finishing their search well for a trophy under David Moyes. Fulham, meanwhile, had previously hit the 40-point mark and seemingly safe from the fall, there clearly was no motivation to do with any level of intensity. The preconditions suggested this would be no match of the day. And it showed. Fulham hadn't won a group fitting inside their whole history at Everton. With nothing really at risk, that questionable information was unlikely to alter from the moment Steven Pienaar swept the host's in to a 16th moment lead following some fast and complicated five-a-side football down Everton's right side. Perhaps the most significant discovery from your day lay deep in Moyes's programme notes. Four paragraphs in, he references the near future a' apparently one spent with Everton. "The target now for myself and the team is always to continue steadily to build on which we've already achieved and to help keep moving the group forward," he wrote enthusiastically. Moyes did not make himself. But he is clearly thinking about what are the results next at a club he's handled across 12 conditions. After ward, Moyes joked about celebrating his 50th birthday party however you like. "It would have been a wild rave," he commented, notably uncharacteristically. Moyes was more serious, though, about reaching a on his future at the end of the campaign. "When you have been [somewhere] 11 years, you had hope that you'll get the value and enough time to make a decision." An indication of Moyes's current thinking is exhibited in his group selections. Because it was reported in 2013 would be Phil Neville's last at Everton, he has maybe not appeared in a shirt and Phil Jagielka has already been mounted as his replacement as club captain. Neville wasn't even in the squad against Fulham. A number of Moyes's most reliable players are similarly over the age of 30 and Moyes understands that gradually, his squad will require reshaping. Probably here is the start of the program. Moyes also still thinks there's at the least a remote potential for European certification. "We'll continue and see what happens," he said. "We'll probably need to win every game but we've beaten last year's total with the things currently and hopefully that shows an indication of progress. If we do enter Europe, we'll certainly have received it because the sides above us [currently] are all really good sides." Regardless, for the second strategy in series, it is likely that Everton will finish it above Liverpool. Moyes won't level is own team's results by the performance of their Merseyside competitors. As much as Everton have increased lately, Liverpool have degenerated. Most importantly for Moyes, he feels this Everton team may be the most acceptable he's had since marking his arrival at Goodison Park with a success, which ironically came against Fulham on a warm spring morning higher than a decade before. Everton did not need to show any quantity of consistent venture to secure the details in this fitting. However it always felt comfortable. Fulham's defenders could not handle the pace and motion of Kevin Mirallas, Leon Osman and Seamus Coleman for the operator. "It was a good footballing goal," Moyes said. "It was earned because we developed enough similar opportunities." Those possibilities dropped to Mirallas and exchange Ross Barkley, who could have secured the result earlier only for Mark Schwarzer to palm away on both occasions. Martin Jol, the Fulham director, later refuted suggestions that he is about to replace the Australian goalkeeper in the summer by recruiting Roma's Martin Stekelenburg. "As long as Mark is fit, we'd prefer to keep him," Jol said. Everton (4-4-2 ): Howard; Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Mirallas, Fellaini, Osman, Pienaar; Jelavic (Barkley 67), Anichebe. Fulham (4-4-2 ): Schwarzer; Manolev, Senderos, Hangeland, Richardson (Duff 56 ); Emanuelson, Enoh, Karagounis (Rodallega 77), Kacaniklic; Berbatov (Petric 30), Ruiz. Rafael Nadal has amore than enougha time for Roland Garros preparation

Rafael Nadal believes that he's adequate time to prepare for the French Open 2013 event, where he returns since the defending champion. The 7-time Roland Garros champion was overcome by Novak Djokovic last week-end at the Monte Carlo Masters where in fact the Spaniard was an 8-time defending champion. aI needed more physical performance,a Nadal said to the journalists. aI needed more suits to play with this specific strength constantly. I have to be completely focused in most minute. That gives you your competition, gives this special things to you, extra things, when you are playing against some players perhaps you donat need sometimes. But you will need, to play against Novak, to play against few players, and I need. I [am] planning to work on that,a he added. Nadal is in Barcelona for the Barcelona Open where he is a seven-time champion. Heas also targeted to participate at the Madrid Masters and Rome Masters ahead of the claycourt fly even in Paris. aRoland Garros is extremely far,a he explained. aWe have Barcelona, then we've Madrid, then we've Rome. Tottenham Hotspur v. Wigan Athletic: Fit Survey - Cartilage Free Chief (weblog)

Spurs did not capitalize on the early prominence and had to claw their way back to the match to repair a point. Well, it was silly. Spurs spent a fantastic chance to jump into third place and take the initiative in the battle for the Champions League. Rather, a bad 2nd half against a Wigan part determined to avoid the fall saw us hardly escape with a place. Tottenham started the match glowingly, employing a 4-3-3 development just like the one the Man City match was ended by us with, with Parker finding its way back into the area at the cost of Lewis Holtby. We dominated the early deals, with Bale heading inches wide from the Huddlestone free stop as early while the second minute. Kyle Walker had the beating of Beausejour throughout the day and produced many good chances. It'd maybe not just take really miss our early dominance to repay, as Bale obtained among the most comical objectives you'll see all time in the 9th second. Bale chased down an awful backpass from Figueroa to Robles and the keeper's approval cannoned off the base of Bale's outstretched right foot back in to the top corner of the purpose. Of on themselves course, Spurs cannot make such a thing easy. Less then a minute later, McManaman beat Vertonghen down the wing, and the ball was poked by the Spurs defender far from a corner. Vertonghen was then beaten again from the resulting place, simply outjumped by the equalizer was nodded home by Emerson Boyce who. Unfazed by the change of fortune, Spurs kept on top for many of the first half. Huddlestone kept attempting to attic balls within the straight back line for Spurs' attacking players to perform onto, but we never was able to quite make things click. Our long balls fell most often to Defoe and Walker. The Wigan defense did adequate to put Defoe off his shooting, and Walker could not have the ability to find anybody in the box with his crossing. Our most readily useful possibility of the half got when Defoe burst to the box following a great baseball from Huddlestone. The early man tried to across the owner, but Robles did just enough to have his hands to the ball and get it off Defoe's base. Parker used the play and locked onto the ball, but rather than take first time he made a decision to take a few details, dribbling straight into the keeper's still-outstretched arm. Two incidents marred the very first half, with Figueroa stretchered off with a pull and Mousa Dembele injuring his hamstring, replaced by Lewis Holtby. Wigan stayed at the top for the following quarter-hour, when AVB finally chose to do something about it. In a tactical masterstroke he replaced Naughton with. . . Assou-Ekotto? This confusing decision to create a like for like remaining back change while trailing mystified supporters and did nothing to effect the span of the game. A minute later, Spurs needs to have found themselves facing 10 men, when Jordi Gomez launched a top kick at Holtby's face/chest region while already on a yellow card, however the ref waved it down. Spurs would have quite definitely used the support, since they still did not look like getting back to the game. In the second, AVB tossed the dice with his last alternative, getting on the returning Aaron Lennon for Scott Parker. Our formation switch was seen by this from the 4-3-3 to more of 4-4-2, with Lennon and Bale playing vast and Dempsey moving behind Defoe in the middle. We'd a couple of good movements, but never truly appeared as if scoring. However in the 87th minute, Kyle Walker beat Beauseejour, getting a free of charge end on the proper side of Wigan's field. Everyone was shocked by hudd by playing a pass in to Gareth Bale in place of lofting it to the field. Bale grazed a shot backwards into Emerson Boyce, and the ball bounced off the unfortunate defender and right into the back of the net. Spurs tried to steal all three points, and nearly caused it to be happen in the 94th minute. Defoe won a free of charge kick at the edge of the package and Robles could only parry Bale's attempt. The ball fell straight to Tom Huddlestone 8 yards out and the midfielder should have finally gained his haircut, but it was blasted by him straight back at the owner. The basketball pinged around the box, with Defoe's acrobatic attempt plugged by Boyce and Dempsey's tame attempt cleared away, ahead of the whistle went and the match ended all square. Four points from matches against Wigan and City aren't bad, but after doing the difficult component and bagging three against City, winning today's match should have been the simple part. Our top four fate is currently out of our arms, and we desperately need United and Swansea to take points off our rivals.

Wigan Athletic vs. Tottenham Hotspur: Final score 2-2 in draw that hurts both ... - SB Nation

Tottenham Hotspur salvaged a draw at the DW Stadium thanks to a late own goal by Emmerson Boyce, but the result helps neither side get where they want to go.

After a heroic performance to beat Manchester City at White Hart Lane, one might have expected Tottenham Hotspur to build on the victory and sweep away Wigan Athletic. That didn't happen -- they were largely outplayed by Roberto Martinez's men and nearly ended up losing but for a late own goal by Emmerson Boyce. The 2-2 draw actually hurts both sides, leaving the visitors in fifth place and the Latics still in the relegation zone.

The match started in frenetic fashion. Within five minutes, Spurs had hit the post, with Tom Huddlestone looking to catch Joel Robles unaware on a free kick from an absurdly tight angle. The Wigan keeper, seemingly still asleep, was lucky to see the 25-yard effort ricochet off the upright, but his next mistake would not go unpunished.

The opener was a comedy of errors. Maynor Figueroa had repeated chances to clear, but he and Joel insisted on passing back and forth between themselves despite heavy pressure from Gareth Bale. Eventually, the goalkeeper decided to get the ball away, casually firing into Bale's foot and watching dismayed as the bounce found its way into the top corner.

The hosts weren't behind for long, however. Immediately after conceding, they marched up the pitch and seized an equaliser, winning a corner from which Jan Vertonghen found himself utterly embarrassed by Boyce, who rose high above the centre back and powered a header past Hugo Lloris. After 11 minutes, it was 1-1, and Cliint Dempsey suggested that there might be more to come with a powerful shot that flew just wide of the post.

The next major incidents, however, were unfortunately a pair of injuries. Figueroa had to be stretchered off with what looked like a groin problem after challenging Jermain Defoe, and Tottenham also picked up a casualty when Moussa Dembele tweaked his hamstring and was withdrawn for Lewis Holtby.

It wouldn't be a Spurs match without a moment of breathtaking incompetence from Scott Parker, and that arrived late in the first half when the 2010-11 FWA Player of the Year found himself on the ball six yards from an empty net only to miscontrol and let Joel retrieve the ball. Nobody was particularly surprised.

Callum McManaman breaking the deadlock immediately after the restart, however, was a bit of a shock, especially since the goal itself was such a stunner. Despite the close attention of Kyle Naughton, the 22-year-old worked space to shoot at the edge of the box and unleashed an absolute rocket that flew over Lloris' head and nearly seared its way through the roof of the net. 2-1 Wigan.

They were good value for their lead as well. Spurs couldn't seem to find a way through their packed defence, and the hosts actually looked reasonably dangerous going forward. They were lucky, however, that Mike Dean elected to ignore Jordi Gomez's bizarre flying kick into Holtby's face, which would certainly have seen the midfielder sent off had a foul been called.

It didn't last, however. The visitors threw caution to the wind, hurling bodies forward, and eventually managed to draw level via an own goal. Aaron Lennon was the man who made it, the substitute fizzing in a low cross into a crowd of bodies. The ball bounced off Bale, then Boyce, and crept past Joel and into the back of the net to ensure a 2-2 draw despite an insane goalmouth scramble that nearly saw Defoe and Huddlestone force home.

La Liga: Running Bilbao 2-2 FC Barcelona: Match Assessment - Barca Blaugranes (blog)

A recap of Barcelona's 2-2 draw with Athletic Bilbao as Ander Herrera's last-minute equaliser secured a share of the things for Marcelo Bielsa's side within the last few fit involving the two sides at San Mames Running Bilbao left it late because they used La Liga champions-elect FC Barcelona to a in the final match involving the two sides at San Mames to secure a share of the ruins tonight. Athletic took the lead on 27 minutes through Markel Susaetaas tap-in, and kept ahead until the 67th moment, when Barcelona exchange Lionel Messi waltzed through the Basque security to pull the Blaugrana back into the fit. Creator was then turned by messi, giving an assist for Alexis SAncheza 69th minute half-volley, but Athletic and Marcelo Bielsa can have the last chuckle, striking in the 90th minute through Ander Herrera. Athletic Bilbao Barcelona Property 42% 58% Overall Shots 7 15 Pictures on Target 3 6 Complete Reliability 68% 82% Fouls 17 11 Offsides 4 3 Yellow Cards 3 2 Red Cards 0 0 Tito Vilanova hinted on Friday that Barcelonaas UEFA Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich wasn't yet over, inspite of the Blaugranaas heavy 4-0 defeat at the Allianz Arena, but his group selection for tonightas match against Athletic Bilbao suggested otherwise. Instead of resting the kind of Xavi HernAndez, Gerard PiquA, Dani Alves and Pedro Rodriguez, Tito selected a powerful XI a with Lionel Messi the notable absentee. The Argentine superstar did make the table, but was demonstrably not willing to begin his second match within a following his "recovery" from the hamstring injury. Would Barcelona manage to complete their week on a top with a victory against Marcelo Bielsaas Athletic Bilbao, or could revenge be got by the Basque side for last seasonas Copa del Rey final defeat? If the early stages of the match were something to pass by, perhaps Bielsaas area could be in a position to have the win they therefore desperately wanted a in the opening quarter-of-an-hour, Barcelona were struggling to keep control, and moreover, keep Athletic away. Ander Herrera might have inadvertently opened the score around the eight second mark, coming in just a few feet of the far corner of the web along with his teasing combination that also evaded the out-stretched leg of Artiz Aduriz, who had been beginning ahead of Fernando Llorente in attack, as he's done for many this year. In certain respects, it was almost as though Barcelona were suffering from the after-effects of the large 4-0 beat against Bayern Munich. Quick on confidence, and a little tired of choosing players forward, BarAa needed to enhance a' and fortunately that opportunity for Aduriz caused the Blaugrana to spring into life. Gerard PiquA was guilty of losing a good chance as Barcelona threatened from a large part (!) but BarAaas first real chance of the evening fell to Alexis SAnchez, after a nice cross from Cesc FAbregas. The under-fire pair have impressed in the past few weeks, showing superb chemistry to create a number of goals against the likes of Mallorca and recently, Real Zaragoza a and they combined to good effect yet again, although this time Alexis SAnchez hit the post as opposed to the back of the net. However, this is promising play from the Blaugrana. Could they have the ability to capitalise with this cause of pressure? Regrettably perhaps not. Rather it had been Athletic Bilbao who would start the score as Markel Susaeta converted from close-range following an exceptional assist from Aritz Aduriz. Not only did the Bilbao number 20 present an exceptional change of speed to flee the process of Gerard PiquA but he also offered Susaeta with a low cross; whether he was partially offside or not, Susaeta couldnat avoid the opportunity like this a' firing the hosts into a shock lead at San Mames. To their credit, Barcelona didnat allow that goal faze them; certain, they were a behind against Athletic abroad, but this wasnat an entirely unanticipated set-back, and BarAa knew how to react. Cesc FAbregas came the nearest, almost choosing the back of the net from an position only on the stroke of half-time. However, despite his best efforts, BarAa were still trailing at the period. A change was made by tito Vilanova at the break, replacing Eric Abidal with Adriano Correia, possibly with one eye on Wednesdayas conflict with Bayern Munich. Or possibly Tito felt as if Abidal needed to be flourished a it hadnat been his best 1 / 2 of football all things considered. Whatever the case, Adriano placed to the center of security alongside Gerard PiquA as Barcelona pressed forward searching for an equaliser. Despite looking at San Mames, BarAa really got a quarter-of-an-hour to register their first opportunity of the second-half, which was created by their latest change, Lionel Messi. Certainly, Messi fought to produce a direct effect against Bayern, but the Argentine was showing little sign of an accident tonight, quickly changing the match. If Pedro would have been a bit more compose facing goal, Messi could have simply got a guide in just two minutes of entering the area of play a' not that it really mattered, Bilbao couldnat hold Messi away for long. Itas been a long time since we last saw Messi in a La Liga fit, so itas an easy task to ignore his astonishing scoring record a' which he usually expanded tonight, in really sensational fashion. Thanks to the midweek beat, and in part, to the start of this match, many have raised legitimate concerns about whether Barcelona could succeed without Lionel Messi in attack a' although does it certainly matter when BarAa do have Messi, and he is with the capacity of scoring goals like this? Taking on one defender isnat quite enough for a new player of his quality, alternatively, Messi took on the entire Bilbao protection, and left all of them in his wake with mesmeric close get a handle on and jaw-dropping velocity. And like the dribbling wasnat enough, it was followed by Messi up with a world-class end, caressing the ball in to the corner of the web from the side of Iraizoza region. A brilliant target from the brilliant person. May Barcelona now go on and secure the three points? With Messi on the subject, such a thing was possible a' including a second target within just 3 minutes. Unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi was the inventor a' although in a fairly peculiar fashion. Was he going for goal? Did he really mean to pick out Alexis SAnchez? Did it really matter? All that mattered was that Messi headed Dani Alvesa corner to the Chilean, and that after a great first-touch, Alexis was in a position to finish from close-range. It had taken Lionel Messi only 10 minutes to show this sport on its head; probably the name might be won tonight after all? Certainly, with an objective advantage, it seemed like Barcelona would be holding up their side of the deal a even if Atletico were yet to kick-off against Real Madrid a' but if weave learned anything through the years, itas that you can't rest on your own laurels at San Mames. Running Bilbao fight tooth and nail before the final whistle and tonight would not be an exception. With 90 minutes on the clock, Bilbao delivered a blow to BarAaas title expectations with a late equaliser, courtesy of Ander Herrera. Sure, Barcelona can and will still win the title, but this goal meant that they'd need to wait until next week a' or perhaps even longer than that a to secure the title. Once again, the possibility came as Barcelona failed to clear their lines following a cross into the region, and again, the opposition took full benefit of that "mistake" to report a valuable goal. Rarely the morale-boosting conclusion that Barcelona were hoping for because they approach their UEFA Champions League semi-final second-leg against Bayern Munich...but until then, Visca el BarAa! Premier League snapshots: Wigan's gifts, Liverpool's rout, Fulham's slide - NBCSports.com

There were six Saturday games in the Premier League, but given the point of the season we're at, only a couple carried any serious implications.

Up until then, City had controlled a one-goal game, leaving West Ham one moment of against-the-run-of-play pragmatism from getting a result at Eastlands. After the goal, the game was over.

Implications: Neither team has much to play for, so aside from bragging rights, this game meant nothing. City remains focused on next month's FA Cup final against Wigan.

More: Obviously, Steven Pienaar's half-volley was all Everton needed, but this match may as well have ended in the 16th minute. While the Toffees pressed for a second, it was energy wasted. Fulham never put a shot on Tim Howard.

Implications: Everton maintains their distance on seventh-place Liverpool while Fulham, still 11th in the league, start to amass doubts.

More: The game had as many red cards as goals, with Gaston Ramirez, Marc-Antoine Fortuné, and Daniel Fox all sent off. Ramirez was sent off in the 70th minute after an elbow to Shane Long, to which Fortuné responded by slapping Ramirez. Fox was sent off for a tackle on Steven Reid.

By that point, West Brom had all their goals. Fortuné opened the scoring in the sixth minute then set up Romelu Lukaku in the 67th. Lukaku did the providing for Long in the 77th.

More: Both these teams, already among the worst attacks in England, started with five midfielders. Granted, with Jon Walters and Kei Kamara, both teams could easily change, but neither alignment exactly screamed, "We're going for this one!"

Just after halftime, Charlie Adam met  a Peter Crouch knockdown, beat Mark Bunn, and converted one of the matches three shots on goal (all from Stoke City).

Implications: Two weeks ago, this looked like it would have relegation implications, and while Norwich only has 38 points (Stoke has 40), it's unlikely either team is in real danger. So, no implications other than the match having mercifully expired.

Implications: For Wigan, this is another match like the one two weeks ago at Manchester City – a chance at full points that slipped through their finders. For Spurs, you could say the same. They need Chelsea or Arsenal to start stumbling (something that will happen if Spurs win at Stamford Bridge on May 8).

Implications: Liverpool's playing for nothing, but it's encouraging to see them perform so well without Luis Suárez. For Newcastle, they still can't be certain they're clear of a relegation fight. And they can't be certain their manager will be around to see them though it.

Bayern Munich to sell Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC target Mario Gomez and Arjen... - Crunchsports.com

Arjen Robben and Mario Gomez can supposedly be offered by Bayern Munich this summer, putting a number of Premier League clubs on alert including Chelsea. Based on theADaily Mail, incoming Bayern instructor Pep Guardiola is able to dump Robben when the transport screen reopens, along with Gomez. The former Barcelona manager has agreed a to sign Mario Goetze from Borussia Dortmund and is considered to be keen on beating Manchester United in the race to sign Robert Lewandowski. And according to Friday's report, with an excess of targeting choices, the Spaniard has determined that Gomez and Robben would be the two who will have to make way. Gomez has been checked by Chelsea in the last couple of years and has previously been linked with Liverpool. A contract extension was signed by the Germany international in April 2012 after snubbing a move to Real Madrid, but before the visit of Guardiola was proved, he had already fallen out of favor at the Allianz Arena lately. Earlier in the day this month, Gomez's agent explained he was sad at Bayern, with Uli Ferber quoted as saying that "Mario isn't pleased about his situation" after it appeared Chelsea were showing interest. Gomez, who is also believed to be on Juventus' radar, had last month insisted he was not considering a summer move just yet. "I do not like all of the questions about my future," he toldATuttosport. "My job is always to play soccer. The people responsible at Bayern are the ones who decide where my future lies. "I am only a person and I do not have the ability to determine whether I'll stay here or be offered. The membership has said that I am going nowhere, so there's little more to say on this topic."

Chelsea FC vs Swansea City Preview - Goal.com

David Luiz, who lined up in midfield in Switzerland and scored the winning goal, is likely to return to the Blues' defence with Gary Cahill starting on the bench as he did on Thursday after recovering from a knee injury.

Swansea, meanwhile, have no injury or suspension issues so Michael Laudrup is likely to name the same side that drew 0-0 with Southampton. Neil Taylor is back in the Swans squad after seven months out with a broken ankle, but is likely to start on the bench as he did last weekend.

Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse Give Newcastle United A Repeat Performance - The Mag

As well as a sound defence, especially early on, Newcastle United's 2011/12 season was built on Demba Ba scoring for fun early on and then Papiss Cisse taking the baton for the second part of the campaign.

With the news yesterday that Cisse has been playing through the pain barrier with a rib injury and could potentially miss some of the four remaining matches, I was yet again surprised/amazed by the reaction of some fans.

While Gouffran could potentially play through the middle and has got a half decent scoring record in France, it would be a big ask to ask him to lead the line and the fact Alan Pardew has subbed him in nine of the ten matches he has started doesn't suggest a great vote of confidence, at least not yet.

More bizarrely though is a number of fans dismissing Cisse's possible absence with comments along the lines of 'so what, Cisse's missed loads of chances and we've got Adam Campbell and Shola who can play there'.

Campbell is just starting his career and we can't have any expectation of him just yet, while Shola…have you seen how many he's (not) scored?

Shola has scored three goals in the last two league seasons, making forty nine appearances, even with most of those as a sub it is a shocking statistic for a 'striker'.

To give you some idea of just how reliant we are on Papiss Cisse for goals, since Demba Ba left, Cisse has scored in every league match Newcastle have won – apart from the Chelsea win.

In terms of symmetry with last season, in the first half of the season when Cisse was having to play second fiddle to Ba as main striker, Demba Ba scored in every league match Newcastle won – apart from the one against QPR when Shola scored his solitary league goal of the season.

It is an impossible situation to be so reliant on one player to score the goals and while I'm not saying it would be impossible for Newcastle to win one of the four remaining matches without Cisse, the statistics tell you that you'd be a mentalist to expect them to.

Tottenham look to make amends because of their 1-0 house less against Wigan earlier in the summer season. With Arsenal and Chelsea both maybe not playing until tomorrow, a win today for Spurs considers them leapfrog their London neighbors in to third place. Aaron Lennon is straight back healthy and he starts the match on the counter. Benny has also been dropped to the seat in support of Kyle Naughton. Jermain Defoe gets the nod ahead of Adebayor, who's not even in the team today. But the real big news is that AVB has decided to stick with the 4-3-3 that Spurs used at the end of the Man City Match. Our subs: Therefore Spurs mind into the match without any strikers on the table. Hopefully Defoe can get the job done. Meanwhile, Wigan point up: ...Figueroa, and Scharner. Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid: reaching Champions League final is not ... - Telegraph.co.uk

"Nothing is impossible in football,'' said Mourinho. "The hope is still there. The team, if you ask them now, will say 'no' but in an hour they'll say 'yes', then Tuesday they will be ready to go for it and give everything. In football everything is possible."

He promised his players would give everything. "You cannot get knocked out without dying on the pitch,'' added Mourinho. "If we get knocked out I want them to suffer and I went the Madrid players to leave the pitch with absolutely nothing left to give."

Mourinho was deeply frustrated by events on Wednesday night. "Every goal was an error,'' he said, although he acknowledged Dortmund's class.

"In this match, the best team won. German football is top football. It always was and in this moment it has a generation with very good players.'' He did add: "You can't judge on a moment."

"It will be very difficult in the return leg at home but we must remain confident," captain Sergio Ramos said. "When the draw for the semi-finals was made, a lot of people thought this was going to be easy for us, but this is a German team we are talking about. They are a great side."

The Bundesliga needs a few years to be judged truly Europe's premier league, but Dortmund's engaging coach was living in the moment. "This will go down in the club's history books,'' said Jurgen Klopp.

"If you go through the museum it always shows the same films from many years ago. I hope soon they show the goal from (Robert) Lewandowski but that only happens if we win on Tuesday. We played exceptionally well. The third goal is worth every single cent of what the TV channels pay for that. In my life I never thought we would score four in the semi-final of the Champions League.

"We are not so experienced in this tournament. We have to work unbelievably hard. But my team is not one that will want just to defend. You see that the last 10 minutes."

Klopp has been linked with a move to English clubs like Manchester City. "I will stay here,'' he insisted. As for his players leaving, Klopp added: "You cannot be successful and nobody will recognise it. Lewandowski? I am pretty sure he will stay.''

Preview: Stoke City vs. Norwich City - Sports Mole

The Potters are six points away from the drop zone, while the Canaries sit just one point above them in the table following a run of just one victory in their last six games.

For the home side, the spotlight has been on manager Tony Pulis, who has once again reiterated that he will not be leaving the club following fresh reports of a possible exit.

Along with Norwich, Stoke have only secured one victory in their previous six outings, and they failed to get the better of the Canaries at Carrow Road, losing 1-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Peter Crouch and Cameron Jerome could keep their partnership in attack for Stoke, while the travelling side should employ Bradley Johnson and Jonathan Howson to control the midfield.

That springs draft heavy on measurement, light on allure

Iowa CITY, Mo. (AP) a' This springs NFL draft is large on size and light on glamour. There's no high-profile quarterback meant to get No. 1 and straight away get to be the experience of a downtrodden business. There's not even a back or large receiver worthy of the most effective overall pick, somebody with the sort of swagger that wins over supporters tired of losing. No, there's just meat. And lots of it. There's 6-foot-6, 306-pound Luke Joeckel, the offensive tackle from Texas A&M whom the Kansas City Chiefs are expected to choose first general. There's also Eric Fisher of Central Michigan and Lane Johnson of Oklahoma, two more 300-pounders who could possibly be purchased in the initial 10 picks. Perhaps the defensive side of the ball is large on bigness: Florida's Sharrif Floyd, Utah's Star Lotulelei and Sylvester Williams of Vermont are considered advanced area people. Effective? Certain. Fancy? Less. "There certainly are a lot of good baseball people there," Broncos President John Elway insisted. "It is kind of a of what kind of flavor you prefer, but there are plenty of defensive linemen a' not only defensive ends but defensive linemen a in this draft, and it is greater than most." Only twice because the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 has an offensive tackle been selected first total, however the Chiefs determine to produce it three when NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell flows off the name of the league's hottest uniform shortly after 8 p.m. EDT at Radio City Music Hall in Nyc City. Joeckel is the thing in a draft high in doubt. He protected the blind side of Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel last season, won the Outland Trophy as college football's top interior lineman, and wowed just about everybody at the NFL's annual scouting combine with his speed, agility and, yes, his size. "I think in 2013, the offensive line place has some true leads in it," Chiefs standard manager John Dorsey said. "Every draft has its own unique group of traits. Last year's draft had its special group of features. This springs draft has its special characteristics." Last springs draft designed for must-see TV. Among the deepest quarterback crops lately stoked the interests of lover angles in a number of NFL cities, including Indianapolis, which got Andrew Luck with the first overall pick. It absolutely was the fourth straight year a quarterback went No. 1. The function of signal-callers did not end there, either. The Redskins exchanged around select Heisman Trophy winner John Griffin III at No. 2, and two more quarterbacks went in the first round. West Virginia's Geno Smith is likely to get in the first round this season, perhaps as soon as No. 2 to Jacksonville. But outside the strong-armed but inconsistent quarterback, the marketplace at the NFL's most critical position is weak. That means a small number of groups in desire a ' Oakland, Buffalo, Cleveland, Philadelphia and Arizona among them a' may wait until later in the draft to create their move. That is all assuming that no positions are manufactured on the opening night. Quarterbacks who may still be on the board when the draft resumes with the next round Friday evening include USC's Matt Barkley, Florida State's E.J. Ryan and Manuel Nassib of Syracuse. "This is often a meat-and-potatoes draft, undoubtedly early in the very first couple of times with linemen, which is exciting," said Eagles basic director Howie Roseman, who will choose final. "It may possibly not be the flashiest issue, nonetheless it is exciting," he said. "It is hard to find big guys who will move, play with energy, and there are lot of guys in this draft." Men who is able to protect those expensive quarterbacks. Joeckel may be the top offensive handle accessible, but Fisher and Johnson are both expected to go early in the draft. And they'll likely spend their careers lining against a number of players on the defensive side of the ball who might be picked early in the very first round, too. The Oakland Raiders, who pick third, have had their attention on Floyd and Lotulelei, among others, and defensive stops Dion Jordan of Oregon, Ziggy Ansah of BYU and Barkevious Mingo of LSU should have their names called in the initial couple hours Thursday night. Defensive back Dee Milliner is a modern option to go in the utmost effective 10, and offensive linemen D.J. Fluker and Chance Warmack a Milliner's teammates from national champ Alabama a' are likely to go early in a draft that is more available than any in recent history. "You can go and ask every search in the room and you'd probably get a favorite player that is different from the other," Raiders common boss Reggie McKenzie said. "But that's the exciting element of this work is wanting to get those views and come to a typical goal to select one."

Powerplay Twist Rate Hybrid Irons

Powerplay Twist Rate Hybrid Irons by Hireko Golf For players looking for more iron distance, Hireko golf provides its latest design: the Warp Speed Hybrid. from their press material: The Warp Speed irons were particularly made to push the ball further and faster than before, featuring a high C.O.R. face for the best in range. While distance is vital in an iron style, an even more prominent role is played by accuracy and the Warp Speed gives here as well. Slowly designed, the #3 and #4-iron have a very wider human anatomy to behave much like a cross between modern day compounds, application or operating irons for ease of play. The # 5 iron and down on into the wedges look much like an ordinary iron design initially glance. However, there's really an open space involving the rear wall and the unsupported, very thin specialty face place, which will be invented to flex the face such as a titanium driver to increase ball speed and distance. Eagles Narrow Consideration to Four Draft Prospects

It appears three days out from the NFL draft, the Philadelphia Eagles have trimmed their draft board to just four players.

Last week general manager Howie Roseman held court with the media for over an hour discussing the team's draft philosophy and strategy. When prompted about how many players remained on the team's board, Roseman simply responded, "Four."

Bleacher Report has learned as has Walter Football that the four players remaining on the Eagles' radar are Oregon linebacker Dion Jordan, Central Michigan left tackle Eric Fisher, Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei and Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel.

It is far from a stunning revelation, given that the Birds front office has spent extensive time with all four prospects, they are all widely considered to be top-five talent and all fill specific needs for the type of team Chip Kelly is attempting to build.

There is no doubt that the Eagles desperately would like to come away from this draft adding one of the elite offensive tackles available, who would anchor the line for nearly a decade.

"This really is a meat and potatoes draft," the general manager pointed out. "It's not exactly the flashiest thing, but it's exciting because NFL teams really are built along the lines."

First, the selection would be an insurance policy for 31-year old Jason Peters who is returning this season after suffering two ruptured Achilles tendons last offseason.

Additionally, selecting a tackle would allow the Birds to eradicate the mistake of using a first-round choice on Danny Watkins in 2011 while allowing veteran Todd Herremans to slide back inside from right tackle to right guard, lessening the load on him as he returns from a significant knee injury suffered last season.

Finally, Kelly's offense is predicated on gap control, and one of this year's draft's elite tackles would certainly solidify that aspect of the offense for years to come.

However, offensive line, while possibly this team's biggest need, is far from its only concern after last season's disappointing 4-12 finish and 12-20 record over the past two seasons.

On the defensive side of the ball, new defensive coordinator Bill Davis Jr intends on building a hybrid 3-4, 4-3 attacking defense based around speed and playmakers.

Should Philadelphia pull the trigger on defense on Thursday night, Lotulelei may be the best fit to fill a glaring hole along the defensive line.

The 6'3", 311-pound defensive tackle would start immediately and be a wrecking ball for opposing offensive lines to contain. Free-agent signee Isaac Sopoaga is not expected to be a three-down nose tackle for this team, whereas Lotulelei would step into that role immediately.

Then there's the allure of Jordan, the University of Oregon's dynamic playmaking outside linebacker. Jordan is already drawing comparisons to Dallas' DeMarcus ware, before even playing a down in the NFL.

Having coached him in college, Kelly is obviously familiar with Jordan's ability not only to get in the quarterback's face all afternoon, but his prowess dropping into coverage. Last season, Jordan recorded 44 tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss, five sacks, three forced fumbles and a pass deflected.

Holding a top-five selection for the first time since 1999, the Eagles are in "can't miss" mode, and it appears that the front office has narrowed its focus to the four players that are as close to a sure thing as this draft will offer.
