Jeter resumes on-field reaching

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) a Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter has resumed on-field hitting after being shut down last month by left leg tenderness. Jeter got 32 shifts in batting practice Wednesday at the Yankees' minor league complex. The 38-year-old superstar also ran for the second straight time. The Yankees chief hasn't performed since appearing in a small league spring education game as a hitter on March 23, if the foot he broke in Game hands down the ALCS last October worried him while working. Whilst not going at full speed, Jeter seemed smooth three times to going from three times from third and first to third to first on the grass just behind the infield dirt. The 13-time All-Star also fielded 45 grounders at short, and used to first base for the first time. Jeter was located on the disabled list March 31 and there is still no schedule on when he'll be stimulated. Outfielder Curtis Granderson, recovering from a broken right wrist, may resume throwing on Thursday. He'd follow-up X-rays Tuesday. "Everything is seeking good," Granderson said. Granderson says he's not started swinging a bat however, but hopes that later this week he could possibly be cleared to swing a fungo bat. The slugger, who led Ny with 43 homers last season, was hit by way of a message from Toronto's J.A. Happ in his first at-bat of spring training on Feb. 24. Granderson can rejoin the Yankees next month. Batting practice was thrown by pitcher Michael Pineda Tuesday for the very first time since right neck surgery that sidelined him each of last season.
