Ajax coach Frank de Boer admits it is nice to be linked with Manchester City but denied that talks have taken place over the job.
Rumours are growing that current boss Roberto Mancini will be shown the door at the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season, with City having no chance of retaining their Premier League title and another early exit from the Champions League. Mancini has continually stressed that he is happy at the north-west outfit but it remains to be seen whether the club's owners are prepared to give him another season to get things back in track. De Boer is rated as one of the best young managers in Europe and his Ajax team are currently three points clear at the top of the Eredivisie. The 42-year-old admits that he is pleased to being mentioned as a possible City boss but made it clear that there has been no dialogue. "It's flattering, but I haven't heard anything," he said. "That says I'm not a bad manager, in any case."
