The Miners rallied following the break, but all hopes of a recovery were killed off when Jakub 'Kuba' Blaszczykowski caused it to be three. It absolutely was Dortmund who began the game the better of the two sides, just like in the first leg. Within seconds of the off, they'd acquired a corner which Robert Lewandowski met, only to make poor contact on the ball and own it blocked. Right after, Gotze had selected the Polish striker, who failed to get his shot away in good time, allowing Andriy Pyatov to scurry off his line and prevent the inevitable hit from close range. And so it continued. Marcel Schmelzer forced one across the field, almost acquiring Gotze, who flung out a leg, but couldn't make clear enough contact on the ball to push it into the net. Lukasz Piszczek and Gotze lost further opportunities to give their part the cause, but they eventually had an earned edge, with Santana meeting a right-wing part with an outstanding header which Pyatov could do not have stopped, on the half-hour level. Seven minutes later, they were well and truly in control of the link. Lewandowski found area down the right and squared it to Gotze, who sent a delicate film past the owner and in to the place of the net. More hesitance from the Polish striker denied them a, with Oleksandr Kucher making a good block, and it would have been at least they earned following a dominant first half. Indeed, the best Shakhtar found a reply was in stoppage time, when Fernandinho strode down the right and miscued a cross, nearly catching out Roman Weidenfeller, who was forced to back-peddle and tip it on the bar. Mircea Lucescu withdrew Taison and introduced Douglas Costa at the break, and the Brazilian very nearly had an instant impact, driving broad after being create by Luiz Adriano. Alex Teixeira and Fernandinho got near to offering a much-improved Shakhtar a route back into the match, while at one other end, Pyatov was pushed into good saves to refuse Marco Reus and Gotze. The Miners' frantic start to the 2nd period had died down, and their chances of development were treated a conclusive blow prior to the hour mark. Pyatov clumsily spilled an Ilkay Gundogan work right into his composure was kept by the path of Blaszczykowski, who to raise the ball over the expansive goalkeeper to make it 3-0. Dortmund were planning the past eight, and missed chances to provide themselves a advantage when Gotze shot wide, Lewandowski failed to read Marco Reus' pass and Kevin Grosskreutz had a beautiful picture tipped wide. At the other end Yaroslav Rakytskyy had two attempts stored by Weidenfeller, who'd enjoyed a quiet night, but was attentive enough to deny Luiz Adriano from close range following a deflected effort fell in to the Brazilian's path. In the end, however, BVB could not gather a lovely next and a consolation couldn't be found by Shakhtar, meaning the hosts development to the final seven.
