Four more Legends sign up - ManUtd.com

Four new names have signed up for the United Legends squad ahead of the Red Heart United gala fixture against Real Madrid's former stars.

Treble winners Teddy Sheringham, Nicky Butt and Jaap Stam will form part of Bryan Robson's plans for the 2 June encounter at Old Trafford, along with one of the best goalkeepers ever to play for the club in Edwin van der Sar.

The quartet join Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Denis Irwin, Lee Sharpe, Dion Dublin and Quinton Fortune as confirmed participants as the Reds aim to avenge a 3-2 defeat in the Bernabeu last year.

Van der Sar, who retired after helping United win a record 19th league title, will play at his former ground for the first time since the victory against Blackpool in May, 2011, when he captained the team.

"I was lucky to enjoy an incredible career and finish on a high with Manchester United," he admitted. "Of course, I have missed playing football and I'm really looking forward to returning to Old Trafford.

"Nothing can replicate the feeling of competing in front of a home crowd against a quality opposition like Real Madrid and to do it for charity makes it more special. In my time at United, I visited some of the Foundation's projects and I know the money raised from this game will really help to make a difference."
