BracketRacket: Dickie V and sharks, oh my!

Welcome back again to BracketRacket, the one-stop shopping place for all your NCAA needs. Today's edition includes a social networking segment, a touching moment between opponents and just a little dance called the Larranaga Shuffle. Oh, and we have got Dickie V and his new competitor, dolphins. Not the Dolphins, just dolphins. Dumb SOCIAL MEDIA SEGMENT The advent of social networking has added to the NCAA tournament experience, allowing fans to review before, throughout and after every game, creating a supplementary excitement to March Madness. But may social media have an effect on the games? The answer is, maybe. Using an protocol it calls "Prime Buzz," the digital marketing organization Prime Visibility tracked the first two models of the NCAA tournament to see if the excitement created on Twitter, Facebook and other social networking stations shown how the clubs did on the court. Put simply, do clubs with the greater number of buzz get more games? It appears so. After tracking social media interactions from 24-hours before the start of games until the end of games in the first round, Prime Visibility found as did 11 of 16 in the 2nd round, that 25 of the 32 groups with increased hype won. The team that produced probably the most buzz was Florida Gulf Coast University, the very first No. 15 seed to reach the Sweet 16, and the best was Northwestern State, which did not allow it to be out from the first round. The highest discrepancy between teams was FGCU's 95.48 percent to 4.52 percent for San Diego State. Read the class here: http://bit.ly/16dYAEf And PRESSING MINUTE In the times after Florida Gulf Coast shoved off Hillcrest State to attain the Sweet 16, the floor was not raced off by Aztecs guard Jamaal Franklin. Rather, he tracked down FGCU's Sherwood Brown to provide him congratulations in just one of the weekend's more heartfelt minutes. Franklin hugged Brown as he kept speaking as he gave some words to him of encouragement, tapped him on the chest and hugged again before separating. Here is as soon as http://goo.gl/ZJrc4 and what Franklin had to say about any of it after: "I just told him just keep being the best choice that he's, make sure the ball is in his arms, make sure he does what he's to accomplish to keep his team rolling," Franklin said during Hillcrest State's postgame news conference. "And just make certain they remain together because those men we played against today are just like us, they all love one another and they all play together. They only want to win. And you can see at the conclusion of the overall game, a lot of teams win games and only leave the court, but they accepted it. They embraced it together, not only one another." Dumb THE NEWS The day after Florida Gulf Coast's victory over Hillcrest State to reach NCAA tournament's Sweet 16, the News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla., ran a large image of the 15th-seeded Eagles celebrating with the headline: "SWEET 15!" Turns out, sweet was a typical theme in lots of statements on Monday a at least for groups that won a' as you will see in this url from Sports Illustrated's Extra Mustard showing selected front pages from round the country: http://bit.ly/13q4FzT Fox Sports also exposed this headline: OMFG-CU! And no, it's not text-speak for some thing crass. It means Oh My, Texas Gulf Coast University! And DOIN' THE LARRANAGA His players were asked by miami coach Jim Larranaga to be fighters and they came through, clinching a spot in the Sweet 16. After they did, Larranaga recognized by his or her own version of the Muhammad Ali Shuffle, something we have dubbed "The Larranaga Shuffle." See his moves in this clip: http://bit.ly/10bC4Yz And more Hurricanes video, of elderly Justin Gamble taking down a video bomb: http://bit.ly/XChjE2 And DICKIE V versus. SHARKS ESPN analyst Dick Vitale did a lot of trash speaking with some dolphins as he picked against them in a class problem. http://bit.ly/YDgv1Q OKAY, we all know it's TELEVISION schtick, part of a campaign with Allstate. Still, Dickie V must be looking over his shoulder now. The sharks, from Atlanta's Georgia Aquarium, have selected 30 activities correctly in this what is-going-to-happen-next contest, just one behind Vitale. Among the dolphins' gets were Wichita State over top-seeded Gonzaga, Florida Gulf Coast over Georgetown and La Salle over Kansas State. To be honest, Vitale is in better shape for the rest of the bracket. He has Louisville beating Indiana in the name game while the sharks' Final Four groups have all been removed. Dumb Statistic OF YOUR DAY You're bracket might be busted, but you are still watching. Reviews for the NCAA tournament will be the highest in 15 years and up 27 percent from a year ago. The broadcasts on CBC, TBS, TNT and truTV averaged a house rating and 12 share, the best rating for the tournament's first week since 1998. The rating was 5.9 and 15 share, that year. The broadcasts also had the highest viewership since 1993, averaging 8.9 million whole readers a' a 9 per cent increase from a year before. Dumb OFFER OF YOUR DAY "Well, I'm glad I am 62 instead of 42 today. I think I will speak for all your commissioners a' this is something that I do not think anybody enjoy. But we respond is going to impact some other person, and, look, it's been going on all the method to just about all the leagues. I really do not think any people think this is actually the highlight of our career activities by any stretch." a Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner Tom Yeager after George Mason became the newest staff to modify conventions by stating it had been leaving for the Atlantic-10.
